Acupuncture is one of the modalities of Oriental medicine that has developed and evolved over the past 3,000 years in China. Acupuncture accesses the body's vital energy, or "Qi". Picture a river flowing and imagine the river in different seasons and conditions. This is analogous to how Qi flows through the body -- sometimes it is bounding, sometimes it is a trickle, sometimes it is completely obstructed and dry, and sometimes it is tranquil. Acupuncture balances and harmonizes the body's energies and functions by working with the meridians, or "Qi rivers," so that the individual is healthy and life flows smoothly.
Acupuncture utilizes tiny needles that are inserted into specific points along the meridians. Theses needles are much smaller than hypodermic needles, so that the sensation is nothing like that of an injection or vaccination. Commonly, a person who receives acupuncture might feel one or more of several sensations: heaviness, aching, warmth or tingling. Many clients find it quite relaxing.
Many common conditions respond to acupuncture and herbal medicine - digestive disorders, obstetric, gynecological and menstrual problems, injuries, chronic illness, sinusitis, allergies and many other. Acupuncture will relieve pain, increase energy, improve mood and physical function, and give you a greater sense of well-being!
